Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo campaigning for Monica Silas, who is running in a special election for Broome County Legislator

Election Day is Tuesday, November 8. Please vote tomorrow to support Broome County Executive Pat Brennan and our whole team of Democratic candidates. Polls are open from 6:00am until 9:00pm.

If you are not sure where to vote, please call the Broome County Board of Elections at (607) 778-2172. They will also have information, including unofficial results, on their website at www.gobroomecounty.com/elections.

You can also join me, along with our Democratic candidates and elected officials for the Election Night Victory Party hosted by the Broome County Democratic Committee. There will be refreshments and a cash bar.

Lupardo introduces package of flood relief bills

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo is joined by Broome County Executive Pat Brennan and Binghamton City School District Superintendent Peggy Wozniak for to announce a package of flood relief bills

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-Endwell) was joined by Broome County Executive Patrick Brennan and Binghamton City School District Superintendent Peggy Wozniak at a news conference today to announce the introduction of four bills in response to the flooding caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. The package of bills would:

  1. Allow property that was significantly damaged by Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee to be reassessed;
  2. Require the state to pay the 12.5% municipal share for damage caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee;
  3. Allow school districts to accept installment payments for school taxes if properties were affected by floods or natural disasters; and
  4. Exempt emergency expenditures by school districts from the 2% property tax cap.

Lupardo presents resolution commemorating the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-Endwell) presented representatives from local Italian-American associations with a New York State Resolution commemorating the 150th anniversary of the unification ofItaly during the Italian flag raising ceremony at the City Hall inBinghamton today. Lupardo, the Vice President of the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators, sponsored the resolution in the Assembly. The Abruzzese Social Club of Binghamton and the Sons of Italy lodges in Endicott andBinghamton were given framed copies of the resolution. October is Italian Heritage and Culture Month.

The Italian unification was a process that took decades, but the country dates its founding back to 1861, when the Kingdom of Italy was proclaimed. Italy became a Republic in 1946, immediately after World War II.

EPA study on TCE makes the case for Lupardo bill

In 2008, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo testified before the US Senate on TCE

A health assessment on trichloroethylene (TCE) released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) earlier this week finds that the chemical causes cancer, among several other health risks. Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-Endwell) contends that the study makes a strong case for legislation she authored (A.3121/S.2025) to have New York State adopt more protective standards for exposure to the chemical, which is commonly used as an industrial solvent.
